Intergenerational Project

Following seeing the programme ‘Old people’s home for 4 year olds’ we were very inspired at Highover. Last year, we worked closely with our school governor Rev’d Melanie Crowley in order to trial an intergenerational project.  Every month, we took a small group of children to meet with a group of older parishioners to take part in planned activities such as craft, art and sharing stories. This was such a huge success for both the children and adults that took part. We are continuing this project this year and have extended the group to include some of our new Reception children.

We have links with our local community centre in Walsworth who run various clubs and activities for parents and children e.g. dance classes, Science clubs for pre-schoolers and wellbeing courses for adults. Please click on the heading to go to their Facebook Page. We have some fliers in our front entrance too.

We have links with our local Church, St Faiths and the Rev'd Melanie Crowley  who visits the school often as part of her role as a governor and as a member of our RE working party. Melanie comes into school at Christmas to present a special Christmas Service and children have opportunities to visit the church as part of their R.E. curriculum.

We have regular visitors from members of the many faiths of our local community who hold assemblies and class talks.
